Dear Reader:

During my travels in recent years, while meeting with both fans and artists of animation, I have noticed an impelling curiosity regarding this art form.

Animation is still quite a mystery, and practically everyone wants to know more about it. Whether it is a student wishing to know where to obtain an animation disc, or a colleague wondering how a certain effect is accomplished...there is always one more question to answer. Also, the distinct variety in animation fans' tastes has created a "competition" between the various styles and formats.

These observations lead me to believe that animation needs a forum wherein animation enthusiasts, both amateur and pro, can increase their understanding of the art form, as well as exchange ideas and opinions. In an attempt to fill this need, the Don Bluth Studio now offers this first sample issue of the EXPOSURE SHEET.

In this quarterly newsletter (starting October, 1983), we will provide up-to-the-minute information on the art of animation and its ever changing uses and developments. Future issues will offer information on collectibles, techniques, and history, along with discussions by a variety of professionals, a question and answer section and more. I, personally, will discuss the methods for drawing and animating at our Studio.

The EXPOSURE SHEET will be a fun and interesting project of artistic as well as educational benefit for all. I sincerely hope that you enjoy this sample issue.
