June 25, 2003: Two new articles added to the Archive, both courtesy of MaximumNIMH's JC Foster, aka Badbird. Thanks, dude! Sorry it took so long to get around to.
February 14, 2003: Today, a change both small and profound -- The Secret of NIMH Archive has been moved to my own domain name! Welcome to www.vanden-eykel.com. Not much has changed, and yet, EVERYTHING has changed. Completely updated and revamped, all references and links to Geocities taken out, all broken links fixed, all dead links removed, a new counter, a new guestbook (both had quietly stopped working when I wasn't looking), and now that I'm no longer at Geocities, finally, no more pop-ups!! The only downside? No new content (yet). And I honestly don't anticipate more any time soon. Still, about two dozen articles that I had stored elsewhere have been broken for a while at the old site, because their storage site had stopped working. So, if you've been frustrated at broken articles, check again...they'll be working. I hope.
This is as good a time and place as any, I guess, to renew the call for articles from your local libraries. In the last three years, response has been thin...and the few items I got didn't really seem worth including (for example, a story from People about what Wil Wheaton is up to nowadays. Interesting, but barely NIMH-related). What I'm looking for are reviews from July 1982, when the film came out. I'll love you forever for the price of a quick browse through your local library. :)
Anyway, it's great to be back!
July 5, 2000: Just a small update, two new sites in the Ring. Happy Canada Day everyone. I'm thinking of removing the Open Letter review of Anastasia (it's so out of date now) and either replacing it with a review of Titan AE or just the list of books that would make cool movies. Just for the record, Fox animation is kaput, and I think Bluth should either go back to his roots and try to recruit renegade animators to make the sort of film they want to make, or go back to Disney. Every film that Bluth has tried to "aim" at a specific audience has sucked.
February 15, 2000: Well, I'm back. Taking computer programming courses at CDI college, so I have internet time again, but this is still just a little update. Three new links added, several others updated, and oh, Computolio's back in the Ring!
December 10, 1999: Just a small update today. Three short articles have been added to the Archive, two of them thanks to Badbird. Also, Computolio has removed himself from the NIMH Ring, as you may already know. So, the Links page has been rearranged a bit. This is probably my last update of the year, and since this is my last sememster at school, it also means the end of easy computer access.
October 20, 1999: Put up a number of Mistakes, which have been waiting and waiting to be included, some since last June. My apologies to all those who sent them in.
Also, I redesigned the entire Mistakes page, to make it easier on the eyes. Hope it works.
July 28, 1999: Several new links, including The Nimhtrix, a hot new addition to the Ring!
July 13, 1999: Added a new Mistake, as well as a Top Ten list on the same page. Took down the banner for NIMHcon II.
June 24, 1999: Two additions to the Archive today. United Artists sent out two "newsletters" to announce the upcoming release of NIMH. I got them both off of eBay, and I've put them up. They basically say the same stuff that appeared in the presskit.
April 6, 1999: I'm experimenting with frames on the Archive page. I know some people don't like them, but I think this is a justified usage. Let me know what you think.
Also, I just want to state again, although I already sent an email out, that I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO CHECK MY HOTMAIL ADDRESS FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS so if you've sent me mail, I probably haven't gotten it. I've already changed most of the email addresses on my page to my rocketmail address, and will probably not bother with hotmail anymore. This is just ridiculous. Die, Gates.
March 9, 1999: Well, the contest winner was announced, but I'm still getting the occasional entry. "It's over, go home!" --Ferris Bueller. :)
However, I DID finally get around to putting all the captions I wrote together with the best of the entries, all onto one page. Well, actually two pages. I did receive a complaint that the contest entry page took too long to load, or was simply too big to load at all, so I shrank all the images down and divided the page in two. That should help.
In other news, the NIMH Ring seems to be flowering. Three new members have been added, and another three applied but could not be admitted. They're still in the queue though, and I still check up from time to time to see if they've been updated. Keep them coming!
Reorganized the Links page, as well as adding the three new members. Glad to see the disappearance of Computolio's page was only temporary :)
February 1, 1999: Some new mistakes, some new entries to the contest from Jeff McGinnis. The winner will be announced on Wednesday (day after tommorow). Also updated the Links page, to reflect some unfortunate disappearances, the saddest of which is the removal of the Justin and Jenner Shrine. Say it ain't so, Daphne! Computolio's page is also gone, which I don't understand. Duncan, are you reading this?...this?...this? Sigh...
January 13, 1999: Two new articles, plus the first issue of Exposure Sheet, which I got off of eBay. Also, one new link to Brooke's Secret of NIMH Page.
January 9, 1999: Well, I'm back from Christmas break, everyone. Happy New Year! Let's get right into it. I've revamped the Sequel page in light of having now seen it. Also, many many more entries to the Silly Captions contest! I'll give it until about the end of January, and then pick a winner. Come on people, send in SOMETHING at least. There's a copy of Mrs. Brisby and the Magic Stone in it for you.
Also, there are several new articles on the way, including the first issue of Exposure Sheet! Yep, I finally got it.
