What Was New (1997)

What Was New (1998)

December 23, 1997: Added two new links to the Links page. Scott Clegg, and J.D. McGinnis. Also, the Jonathan Brisby Shrine is now a member of the Nimh ring. Merry Christmas, everybody! See you in the new year!

P.S. The current issue of People magazine (with the most fascinating people of the year) has a profile of two of Bluth's animators. Check it out!

December 16, 1997: Phew! The last issue of Exposure Sheet went up today. Glad that's over with! Again, thanks, Edwin!

December 14, 1997: Three major changes today. First, added a couple of new items to the Mistakes page, sent in by a lady named Kylen Miles.

Second, Ken Singshow apparently liked my suggestion of Milla Jovovich as the new voice of Mrs. Brisby, because he sent me a pic of Briz as Leeloo. It's up in the Mrs. Brisby's Voice section of the Sequel page.

Third, remember that address for Bluth's new studio in Phoenix I posted? Well, I wrote him a letter and he just responded! And yes, this one is definitely not a form letter. He also sent an autographed pic, and I've posted it in the Introduction. So, it's official. Don Bluth does answer fan mail. And, he is unfailingly gracious, a class act all the way. (Yes, I'll probably put up a copy of the new letter, but not for the moment.) So, write him and tell him that you like his film; he'll appreciate it.

December 10, 1997: Changed the background. I'm tired of the "flame" look.

December 9, 1997: After my history exam today, I was really bored, so I went to the net and downloaded a program for animated GIFs and started fooling around. You can see the results right above you. Wait for it.....wait for it....There! MRS. BRISBY BLINKED! Now, if someone comes in and sees you peering at the screen and asks what the heck you're doing, you can tell them you're having a staring contest with a mouse...Aha! The mouse loses again!

Corrected a mistake that has gone overlooked for far too long! Why didn't anyone ever tell me that one of the pages of the Comics Scene article was broken? Anyway, it's fixed, and about time too!

Exposure Sheet #8 is up. One more to go! Of course, it just happens to be the longest, but then again, I'll have far more free time after my last exam this Friday (Algebra, bleah).

December 8, 1997: Issue #7 of Exposure Sheet is up. At this rate, they should all be done by Christmas.

Added another item to the Mistakes.

Check out Andrew's Secret of Nimh Page. The results of the Name Mrs Brisby Survey are in, and the page has also been streamlined and speeded up tremendously. Kudos to Andrew!

December 6, 1997: A long neglected feature added: a navigation aid at the bottom of each page. Something I just never got around to until now.

December 3, 1997: Issue Three of Exposure Sheet is up.

November 29, 1997: Special treat, folks. Don't say I never did nothing for ya! Two more editions of Exposure Sheet are up. I did issues five and six before three and four, because they were shorter, but don't worry, I'm still working furiously on all of them. This, in addition to a ten page History term paper on the role of the Church in the Holocaust, and an English paper about the theme of Wisdom in the Epic of Gilgamesh. As you might imagine, my fingers are starting to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger's thighs, and my caffeine intake exceeds that of several third world countries. And I never want to hear the words "justify the denominator" again!

Also, I've seen Anastasia, and am working on a review. Most of you regulars have probably also seen it by now, and I would love to hear what you thought. Email me!

Finally, added an item to the Mistakes page that American Tail fans will love. Are you reading this, Kelvin?

November 25, 1997: Renovations are complete, just a few subtle changes. Can anyone tell what's different?

November 24, 1997: The page is undergoing a minor facelift, and some aspects may be down for a while. The archive, however, remains open. I apologize for the inconvenience. Also, I've added Home buttons to all the pages, even though I know I said I wasn't interested in fancy buttons...A guy can make a few exceptions, can't he?

November 18, 1997: The first issue of Exposure Sheet is up. Special thanks to Edwin again for sending me the copies! Sorry it took so long (and will probably continue to take a long time for additional issues) but it's been an endless nightmare of finding computer time and coordinating it with my classes. Also, for some reason, after the file got to be a certain size, I could only add more on Mac computers, so special thanks are also due the Douglas College biology lab, for letting me use theirs, and for putting up with me for so long. :) The article is up in the Archive.

November 13, 1997: Added a few comments on actors who could replace Elizabeth Hartman and other deceased cast members of Nimh. See the Sequel page.

Found another Mistake.

Also, I am busily working on the HTML versions of Exposure Sheet, but it is a very time consuming task, and I've got to balance it with school and work. Still, I expect to have the first one up within a week. Again, thanks, Edwin!

November 6, 1997: Put the Awards on their own page so the front page wouldn't take so long to load.

I'm now offering a choice of images for the Nimhring logo. If you want to change your logo, feel free to download the new image on the ring page. If you want to keep the one you have, that's ok too. Personally, I was never satisfied with how grainy that pic was.

PS: It has nothing to do with Nimh, but I gotta mention it anyway. Time magazine published a letter from me! See it online at Pathfinder.com, under "Men Get Spiritual."

November 3, 1997: Added a new section, a collection of Nimh bloopers.

November 1, 1997: Three news items: First, please welcome D. Allen Scarpitto, proprietor of the Mrs. Brisby Homepage to the Ring.

Second, Edwin Quantrall has come through again, I just received copies of the Don Bluth Fanclub Newsletter. I'm going to have to limit myself to HTML versions for now (Oh, heck, why kid myself...For the forseeable future.) and I'll do that as soon as possible. They're pretty great stuff...I always wondered who the heck "Missy" was, and now I know!

Third, I'm trying out a new image for the Ring logo, a pic of Mrs. Brisby that I found around the Net. It looks like Ken Singshow's work, but I don't know for sure. You can see it on the Ring page.

October 29, 1997: Welcome please a new member to the Ring. Kristen Blonst has put up yet another page, called Robin's NIMH Fan-Fiction Archive (nice title). It's pretty self-explanatory, a collection of sequels written by fans. I've also added it to the Links page, put up a notice that Dolphin Man's page is now inactive, and put up a link to our listing at Webring.org.

Tweaked my own sequel a bit, came up with names for the characters. After all, if it ends up on the Fan-Fiction Archive, it'll have to be up to snuff! Believe me, there's some damn inpressive stuff there already.

Put the Geocities link on all my pages, rather than just the Index. This is apparently a rule of Geocities management, and I was told that my site might be up for some recognition from Geocities, once that little requirement was filled. Keep your fingers crossed!

October 21, 1997: Edwin Quantrall has come through! I just received the copy of the Fantastic Films article, and I have added it to the Archive. Thanks, Edwin. As soon as the copies of the newsletter "Exposure Sheets" arrives, I'll put them up too.

P.S. I hope no one took me seriously about pestering Edwin. If you have been, quit it!

Added a few Anastasia links to the Links page.

October 8, 1997: Added a new article to the Archive, courtesy of Jeff McGinnus. It's a review by Roger Ebert. How's about that for promptness, Jeff? :)

Please welcome Jeremy Hodges, Duncan "Computolio" MacDougal, and Kelvin "Fievel" Goh to the Secret of Nimh Ring! We now have seven members, and our listing can be seen at Webring.org under the Comics and Animation heading.

October 6, 1997:

Big News!

Edwin Ross Quantrall was a card-carrying member of the now-defunct Don Bluth Fan Club (literally...just ask him), and he has offered me copies of the first eight issues of the Newsletter! Way to go, Edwin! You realize of course that I'm going to pester you mercilessly until they arrive :) (and I want the rest of you Bluth fans to do the same...just kidding!)

Also...Richard Stearns of the Elizabeth Hartman web page has corrected me on the date of Hartman's death. She died in 1987, not 1985. I also found out the date of the news clipping, so I updated the Sequel page accordingly. Thanks, Rick. Sorry it took so long to get to.

October 4, 1997: Two significant additions: I found Don Bluth's current mailing address in Arizona, so I posted it in the Archive. Also, added a new request to the Help section, concerning a comic book version of The Secret of Nimh. Includes a pic.

Replaced the Bloom County comic with a color version.

October 2, 1997: I'm trying a new background...I'm tired of the green look. The graphic for it can still be seen on my "art" page. Let me know what you think.

October 1, 1997: Updated the Awards section. Finally downloaded the images that were supposed to go with the links.

Daphne Lang and Charles Duke are now members of the Secret of Nimh ring, and Duncan "Computolio" MacDougall is pending. Duncan, your entry into the Ring will be the fifth, which means that after you join, the Ring will be large enough for webring.org to list in their directory. Thanks!

Kelvin has offered alternative graphics for the Ring logo, so you may be hearing about a new file for members to download. I'll keep you informed.

I've discovered the joy of tables.

September 27, 1997: Have started up a ring for Nimh-related webpages.

September 24, 1997: The Variety article for September 19, 1997, is back up.

Added the Introduction, and a "Help" section.

Corrected the date for the Time article.

Am trying to join the Cartoon Ring, and have applied for counter at WebSideStory's Top 1000 Sites

In the "Sequel" page, I added links to articles about the deaths of Elizabeth Hartman, and Judith Barsi.

September 21, 1997: Two of the articles are up again, but the first remains down. Cleaned up the logo a bit, to get rid of those annoying specks around Don's head. Changed the word "Archives" to "Archive". Added the Village Voice article and the letter from Bluth to the Archive. Put Bloom County comic on front page.

September 21, 1997: Reorganized the entire page, put the Archive and the Sequel into their own html files, with a black background to improve legibility (the Jeremy background is a bit hard on the eyes).

The first three articles will be down for a few days. Sorry, I'll fix the problem as soon as possible.

September 20, 1997: The Archive is pretty much complete. Still one article from the Village Voice to get to, but other than that....
