Introduction Journal

I really envy people who keep journals. I don't mean diaries; I actually kept a diary for several years until it started to seem like more trouble than it was worth. A diary is just a record of events, but a journal is an attempt to capture a sense of who you are on paper. I guess I like the idea of leaving something of myself behind, even if no one ever reads it, or knows it exists. And if they do read it, well, that's just icing on the cake. I figure I'll have lots of time on my hands after a day of cycling, so I thought, 'Why not try a journal?' This section will be distinct from the tour reports. Those will basically be my diary, in which I tell what happened, and how I react to it. The journal is where I will write about anything and everything else that happens to wander through my head. I suppose everybody has a cause, an ax that they love to grind; one big issue that they care about and think about a lot. For me, that issue is God and religion. As I said in the Introduction, I'm an atheist, and that will probably be something I'll talk about often. I've thought about it a lot, and come to certain conclusions that I'm comfortable with, and my hope is that by the end of this trip, I'll have managed to get across my reasons for what I believe, and what I don't believe. You could say that while I'm making a physical journey across Canada, I'll be making a spiritual journey as well. You could say that, but it would sound awfully pretentious. -g- Let's just say that I like to express my opinions, and leave it at that. I've got a lot of opinions saved up. Hope it isn't boring. :)
