You Wanna Know Why? Get This...

Two things cooled me on Sport Chek:

First, after my bike was stolen, I called up the branch where I bought it, asking if they had a record of its serial number so that I could give it to the police. They had a record of the sale (well, they had to, since they knew it was still under warranty, right?), but said that the serial number was not written on the receipt. Well, when I got home, I dug out my copy of the receipt, and guess what! There was the serial number right on it. Goddamn morons made it that much less likely that I'll ever see my bike again.

Second, I bought a new bike from them, and a few months after I got home, it got its handlebars and front fork assembly stolen while locked in broad daylight on a busy street for two hours. OK, not SportChek's fault, right? But I'll tell you what IS their fault...I was told by SportChek that replacing the lost parts would cost me over three hundred dollars...despite the fact that the EXACT SAME BIKE was at that very moment ten feet away, on sale for less than that. Expecting me to pay more for the parts than the entire bike was worth was the last straw. Fuck Sport Chek, I'll never buy anything from them again.
